Top 10 Smartphones Launched In November 2017
This November saw the launch of the highly-anticipated Moto X4, OnePlus 5T, Xiaomi Redmi 5A, Oppo R11s, R11s Plus and Nokia 2 among others. Here’s a look at their specifications and features.
XIAOMI REDMI 5A
Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A was launched on the last day of the month. Xiaomi Redmi 5A ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’ will be exclusively available via Flipkart, mi.com and Mi Homes. The smartphone is priced at Rs 4,999. But if you’re a Reliance Jio customer, you can get it for an effective price of Rs 3,999. The smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera. Armed with a 3,000mAh battery, the Redmi 5A runs Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
REDMI Y1, REDMI Y1 LITE

Xiaomi launched a new Y-series of a smartphone, under which it launched the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite. The smartphones feature a 5.5-inch HD display, 3,080mAh battery, and run on Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. The Redmi Y1is powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 SoC, while the Y1 Lite is powered by a Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC. On the camera front, the Redmi Y1 sports a 13-megapixel camera with flash, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. On the other hand, the Redmi Y1 Lite is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support and a 5-megapixel snapper for selfies. Both smartphones come with connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
MOTOROLA MOTO X4
Motorola launched the Moto X4 smartphone marking the company’s return to the X-series of phones. In terms of specifications, the Moto X4 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box. It flaunts a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core SoC. It also sports a dual camera setup at the back – one is a 12-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture; and other is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor with a 120-degree field of view, f/2.2 aperture. Up front, there is a 16-megapixel camera with flash support and f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone will be available in two variants- 32GB internal memory with 3GB RAM, priced at Rs 20,999 and 64GB internal storage with 4GB of RAM, which will retail at Rs 22,999.
ONEPLUS 5T
OnePlus 5T was one of the most anticipated smartphones of the month. The smartphone comes with “Face Lock” feature, 18:9 display and an enhanced low-light camera technology. It will be available in 64 GB and 128GB variants for Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999, respectively. The OnePlus 5T features a 6-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, and is powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC. For photography, it sports a dual-camera setup of 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors, and a 16-megapixel front camera. It is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based OxygenOS.
The Nokia 2 features a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC, paired with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage, which can be further expanded using a microSD card. On the camera front, the Nokia 2 is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. On the software front, the smartphone runs on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, and also comes with Google Assistant onboard. In line with HMD Global’s promise, the OS will soon be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, but there is no word on the timeline yet. The Nokia 2 is priced at Rs 6,999.
FLIPKART BILLION CAPTURE+
Flipkart also announced its foray into the competitive mobile phone market in India this month with the launch of Billion Capture+ smartphone. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD display. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. On the camera front, Billion Capture+ has a 13-megapixel+ 13-megapixel with ‘Super Night mode’, ‘Bokeh effect’ as well. Flipkart is using RGB and monochrome sensors for the ‘Bokeh’ effect on the smartphone. The front camera is 8-megapixel. The Rs 10,999 device will house 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage while the Rs 12,999 phone will have 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
INFINIX ZERO 5/ZERO 5 PRO
Transsion Holdings Infinix has launched the Zero 5 and Zero 5 Pro at Rs 17,999 and Rs 19,999 respectively. Both the smartphones feature a 5.98-inch full HD JDI display with 2.5D curved glass and comes with full metal unibody to add to the premium-ness of the phone. Under the hood, the phones are powered by a MediaTek Helio P25 MT6757 clocked at 2.6GHz. Armed with a 4,350mAh battery, the phone comes with a Type-C port with support to fast charging. On the software front, the phone runs Android Nougat 7.0 based XOS 3.0 out-of-the-box.
VIVO V7
After having launched in Indonesia, Vivo launched the V7 smartphone in India today. Vivo V7 is priced at Rs 18,990 and will go on sale starting November 25 exclusively via Flipkart and offline stores. A slightly toned down version of the Vivo V7+, the Vivo V7 features a 5.7-inch HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 4GB RAM and 32GB storage, and 3,000mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with Funtouch OS 3.2. For photography, the Vivo V7 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 24-megapixel front camera.
GIONEE SMARTPHONES
Gionee launches several smartphones this month including the S11, S11S, S11 Lite, M7, M7 Power, M7 Plus, M7 mini, and F205. Here, it is worth noting that Gionee has already launched smartphones including the M7 Power, F205 and M7 in the Chinese market. One feature that remains common in all the smartphone is the full-view display with 18:9 aspect ratio, following the footsteps of LG Q6 and Samsung Galaxy S8-duo. Out of all the phones, the S11 is expected to launch in India in January 2018.
OPPO R11S, R11S PLUS
Oppo launched new full-screen smartphones, the Oppo R11s and Oppo R11s Plus at an event in China. The highlight of these handsets is its dual camera setup and Full View AMOLED display. The R11s has an 85.8 percent screen-to-body-ratio meanwhile, the Plus variant comes with 85.95 percent screen-to-body ratio. Both the smartphones are powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform paired with Andreno 512 GPU for graphics. The devices ships with Android 7.1.1 Nougat with ColorOS 3.2 layered on top.
