Oppo F5 comes to India (Update: Sidharth Limited Edition unveiled)

Update (Feb  2018); Oppo India has introduced a limited edition Blue variant of the F5 in the country. Dubbed as Oppo F5 Sidharth Limited Edition, the new smartphone keeps the same specifications and the price-tag (INR 19,990) as the previously available versions. As is pretty evident from the name, this limited edition will be promoted by actor Sidharth Malhotra.
According to Oppo, it will go on sale starting February 8 via Amazon India, which will have special one-day exclusivity. The availability will expand to all major retail stores on February 9. The new Blue version is the fourth color option to offered for the phone in the country. Oppo F5 was originally released in Black, Red and Gold colours.

Update (Nov 27): Oppo has announced the pre-orders for the 6GB RAM variant of the F5 are now open at Flipkart.com. The phone will start shipping December 1.
Earlier (Nov 2): Turns out Xiaomi’s new Redmi Y1 isn’t the only selfie-focussed smartphone to be launched in India today, Oppo has also introduced its F5 Android phone in the country. Introduced last month in Philippines, the Oppo F5 is a mid-range smartphone.
According to Oppo, the F5 sports a unibody design with a 6-inch full HD+ screen. It is powered by an octa-core Media MT6763T processor and will be offered in two RAM variants – 4GB and 6GB. The 6GB version comes with 64GB of internal storage and the 4GB one comes with 32GB of internal storage.
For the photography needs, the company has packed a 20MP selfie camera on the front with f2.0 lens and a 16MP camera on the back with f1.8 lens. The camera app on the phone comes with an AI-powered beauty recognition technology, which the company claims will help the consumers in capturing great selfies with the phone. This tech is using artificial intelligence to scan your eyes, nose, cheekbones and jawline to offer natural looking, but still enhanced and beautiful selfies.

Additionally, the F5 includes dual-SIM support, microSD card slot, and a 3200 mAh battery.
On the software front, there is Android 7.1.1 Nougat on-board with ColorOS 3.2 skin. Oppo has also packed a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.

Pricing and availability

The OPPO F5 4GB RAM version has been priced at INR 19,990, and will be available in Black, Red and Gold colours. It will go on sale beginning November 9. The 6GB variant of the F5 carries a price-tag of INR 24,999 and will be available starting December 2 (see pre-order update on top). Oppo also plans to launch a F5 Youth edition in the country next month. No word on the pricing of the Youth edition.
In related news, Oppo has also launched the F5 in Malaysia today, where it has been priced at RM 1298. It will go on sale beginning November 11 in the country.

Oppo F5 Youth launches in India for INR 16,990



Oppo has launched a new variant of its F series in India. The latest addition to the series is Oppo F5 Youth with the price tag of INR 16,990. The F5 Youth is already available in Philippines and now it has debuted in India. The device was teased at the launch of Oppo F5 in India.

Oppo F5 Youth design resembles the Oppo F5 which was launched last week. THe new Oppo F5 Youth features 6 inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080*2160 pixels. Oppo has added 3GB of RAM along with an octa-core MediaTek MT6763T (Helio P23) SoC. There’s a 13MP camera sensor on the rear with an aperture of f/2.2 lens and LED flash. There’s a 16MP camera sensor on the front with a bigger aperture value of f/2.0.
IN Connectivity it packs support for microSD card support of up to 256GB via dedicated expansion slot. There’s a support for 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, micro USB and OTG support. Oppo has 3.5 mm audio jack. There’s a 32 00 mAh battery which can keep running your device whole day without any issue.

Airtel adds Karbonn A1 Indian & A41 power to ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative

Airtel is swiftly expanding the portfolio of smartphones under its ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative, which offers cashbacks to the buyers of select 4G smartphones if they regularly recharge their prepaid accounts. The latest phones to be added to the telecom operator’s 4G initiative are Karbonn A1 Indian and Karbonn A41 Power. Neither of the two phones is new. The A1 Indian has been on sale in the country since September this year and A41 Power has been retailing since August.
According to Airtel, the buyers of these two phones will need to make 36 continuous monthly recharges of the INR 169 pack from Airtel. They will get a cash refund of INR 500 after 18 months and another INR 1000 after 36 months, taking the total cash benefit to INR 1500. If they don’t want to get the INR 169 pack, the customers can go for any other recharge, given recharges worth INR 3000 are done within the first 18 months to get the first cashback and another INR 3000 over the next 18 months for the second cashback.
The Karbonn A1 Indian is being sold for INR 3299 and the A41 Power for INR 3349. Both phones will be available on Amazon India as well as in the open market.
A1 Indian and A41 Power phones aren’t the first 4G Karbonn smartphones to be offered as a part of Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative. Last month, Airtel and Karbonn had launched the A40 Indian as the first phone in the ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ lineup.

According to Airtel, A40 Indian was a big success and it was fully sold-out in the first month of launch.
“We are delighted to partner with Airtel. The immense response that we got for us our offer with Airtel helped us add 70% new feature phone users to our existing portfolio. We feel that this partnership will be even more fruitful as it brings more competitively priced 4G smartphones to the market, especially with Amazon India on board,” said Pardeep Jain, MD, Karbonn Mobiles, in a statement.
