OnePlus 5 starts getting OxygenOS 4.5.15 OTA


OnePlus 5 users will be now receiving a new OTA update in the form of OxygenOS 4.5.15, that most notably tows October security patch for the flagship. The minor update is rolling-out to a small portion of users as of now, and its broader rollout is set to commence in a few days. As per the changelog, following things come bundled with the package.

As you can see, the update is sort of a much needed maintanence release and focused on fixes. Since, the issues such as unability to set alarm ringtones and problem while sharing of emojis are being patched. Apart from that, GPS is also getting improved once the update is installed.
Well, it won’t be wrong if we say that OnePlus 5 users might be expecting more than this incremental update. As its predecessors OnePlus3/3T had already embraced with the brand new Android Oreo. Hence, the users ought to be miserable as there device is still lying on Nougat 7.1.1. Seems, they’ve to wait a little more for the OxygenOS 5.

OnePlus has started rolling out a new software update for its OnePlus 5T smartphone. The update was released on Thursday and will reach all OnePlus 5T units over the next few days. It is available over-the-air and will automatically reach your 5T smartphone.
Carrying the OxygenOS 4.7.4 moniker, it is the second software update for the 5T since the launch. The first update OxygenOS 4.7.2 was released late last month.
According to a forum post, the latest update brings a number of fixes and improvements to the phone. It includes an updated user-interface for camera as well as improvements to the overall quality of the photos taken from the phone. Additionally, the speaker and earphones will now  sound better.
Among other changes, you can expect improvements to Face Unlock feature, vibration and stability of the fingerprint sensor and GPS. Lastly, the company has optimised the battery usage of phone when it is connected to a Wifi network.

In related news, the Star Wars edition of the OnePlus 5T will go on sale next week in India, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. While the sales open December 14 in the three European markets, India will get the phone on December 15. This limited edition includes the same specifications as the regular OnePlus 5T, however it sports a White back with a small Star Wars logo and red alert slider. There is no word on the pricing of the limited edition, which will most likely be the same as the regular 5T.
To remind you, the standard OnePlus 5T was unveiled on November 16 in New York. It succeeds the OnePlus 5, which will be discontinued once the existing stocks are sold out. It features a 6.01-inch full HD AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor and dual rear cameras.

OnePlus is rolling out one more update in just a span of couple of weeks. The first packed final optimisations to the OnePlus 5T. Now, the third update also packs new optimisations and improvements to the device. Particularly, the camera segment has received new optimisations to its User Interface. Even, the photo quality has been improved in the latest update.
The update is slated as OxygenOS 4.7.4 update and it weighs at 285 MB with few few new changes. in detail, OnePlus has added refined look for the camera app and even the photo quality has been improved.
There are some other changes like optimisations for audio from speaker and earphones. Further, Face Unlock, vibration, WI-Fi battery has been optimised. Stability of the fingerprint sensor and GPS has also been improved.
Further, as usual there are some general bug fixes and improvements which will enhance the USer Experience.
The update is on a rollout and expected it to soon hit your devices. If you have not received it, then wait for some time as it may take some hours to days to receive on your device.
Also switch to WiFi network to save some bucks on carrier usage. You can check the update manually, by just heading over to the Settings and then check for updates.

OnePlus has now released a new Oxygen OS Open Beta build for its yesteryear handsets OnePlus 3 and 3T. The new Beta updates carry the version numbers 28 and 19 in OnePlus 3 and 3T respectively. Though they lies a difference in Open Beta version numbers, both the package bundles same contents for the devices. Most notably, bringing support for aptX/aptX HD wireless audio-compression technology in OnePlus 3/3T.
For those who don’t know, aptX is a digital audio compression technique currently owned and developed by Qualcomm. It facilitates nearly lossless audio streaming via wireless accessories such as BlueTooth headsets, speakers, smartwatches etc. While the aptX HD is an evolved form of the tech that supports up to 96KHz sampling rate compared to the 44KHz standard used in normal audio coding. Hence, the OnePlus 3/3T users could enjoy the flawless audio with less distortion wirelessly after updating to the latest Open Beta.
In addition, there are other plenty of improvements or enhancements reaching the devices with this release. Considerable visual changes, UI fixes, improved battery and RAM management being some add-ons. The changelog also suggests an upgraded security patch level, that might be dated as 1st October, though not clearly revealed.
