Line adds support to unsend messages

People tend to send wrong messages sometimes. Thus, messaging apps are adding feature to unsend those messages. To recall, WhatsApp added this feature few weeks back. And now, Line too allows users to unsend messages in the latest update.

In the latest update, Line allows users to unsend messages within 24 hours. While in WhatsApp, user will be able to unsed messages only within 7 minutes. But, however the notifications are displayed for those messages similar to WhatsApp. Also, the recipient will be notified about the deleted message. The messages that can be unsend in Line are text, voice, stickers, images, videos, URLs, Line Music links, contacts, location information, files, and call history. The messages can be unsend in one to one conversations, multi user chats and group chats. The unsend feature is also live on web versions of Line except on Google Chrome. Also, to use this feature your recipient must have the new updated Line Social Media.

Misfit Vapor smartwatch reaches India, priced at INR 14,495 | Twitter makes it easier to post tweetstorms with Threads


Misfit VaporAmerican wearables company Misfit has entered the Indian smartwatch market with the launch of its Vapor Android Wear watch. The Misfit Vapor is now on sale in the country via Flipkart.com for INR 14,495. It is being offered in three colours at this point – Jet with a black strap, Stainless Steel with a black strap, and Rose Tone with a midnight blue strap. A fourth colour option – Gold Tone with desert grey strap will be available later.
The Misfit Vapor was first showcased at this year’s CES trade fair in January with the company’s own operating system, but the OS was later switched to Android Wear, leading to delay in availability of the device. It finally want on sale on October 31 in the United States.
Vapor sports a 1.39-inch round AMOLED screen and is one of the better looking smartwatches out there. It is powered by Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and packs 4GB of internal memory. Vapor is waterproof upto 50 meters and houses 20mm changeable straps. It also includes GPS, Bluetooth and a heart-rate sensor. The smartwatch currently runs on Android Wear 2.0, but will be getting the Android Oreo update in the coming weeks.
According to Misfit, the Vapor can work as a standalone music player, so you won’t always need to stream content from your connected smartphone. You can also get the usual set of Android Wear features like activity tracking, swim tracking, notifications, Google Assistant and more.
The reviews of the devices haven’t been all great with reviewers citing problems with heart-rate sensor, lack of NFC, and average battery life.

Twitter ThreadsTwitter has finally launched a new feature called “Threads” that will allows the users to post tweetstorms easily. It was a much-requested feature and the company has been testing its implementation for a while.
“A few years ago we noticed people creatively stitching Tweets together to share more information or tell a longer story – like this. We saw this approach (which we call “threading”) as an innovative way to present a train of thought, made up of connected but individual elements,” wrote Sasank Reddy, Product Manager, Twitter in a blog post.
Tweetstorms have been a part of Twitter culture for years now and the users have their own ways to post them. Most often the users will post tweets marked with numbers and published as a reply to the last tweet to make it easier for others to read them, but it is very time consuming. Twitter Threads, on the other hand, make it quite easy to post tweetstorms.
All you have to do is go to the compose window on Twitter.com or the official apps and you will see a new + symbol there. Write your first tweet of the tweetstorm and the + symbol will become active and if you click that, you will get a second compose window and so on. Once you are done writing the full thread, you can just hit ‘Tweet All’ and your whole tweetstorm will be published. Here is a quick GIF showing the Twitter Thread in action:Twitter Threads
According to Twitter, Threads will roll-out to everyone on the official apps and Twitter.com over the coming weeks. If you are a regular user, you are most likely already seeing it live on Twitter.com. There is no word on the expansion to Tweetdeck, but it will also probably arrive soon.
The launch of Twitter Threads comes just weeks after the company launched extended character limit for tweets. Off late, Twitter is trying very hard to offer the most user-requested features in order to keep the existing users and bring in new blood. You can expect to see the official launch of Twitter Bookmarks next.

WhatsApp beta for Android updated with shake to report and admin settings


WhatsApp is one of the most widely used instant messaging app across the world. Since its acquirement by Facebook, the app has been revamped with many new features especially video calling and stories. And still the developers are working hard to bring some other new features such as new shake to report and admin settings which showed up in the latest beta.

The above mentioned two features (admin settings and shake to report) are available in the latest beta versions 2.17.434, 2.17.436 and 2.17.437 respectively. Some other features include shortcut to access group invite link and tap and hold to unblock users.
Talking about new admin settings in group chats. The admin now will have right to allow which user to send messages in the group. Also, the admin can set which users can edit group info. These new rights to admins can really come in handy to avoid spams in groups.
The next one is shake to report as the name suggests, shaking the phone while in WhatsApp will open the Contact us section and send the logs to WhatsApp. This feature is not live at present but when it comes, it might be exclusive to beta apps.
Also, some references to group video calls were found by WABetaInfo team. According to their findings, three people can have a video call at a time and the calls are also encrypted.
These new features may or may not come to the stable version. Only time will tell and all we can do is wait.

Instant Games video and live streaming features

The first new feature is live streaming which will be live starting today. Users can now easily live stream their Instant Games gameplay via Facebook live. To start a live stream, users have to tap the camera icon located at the top right corner of the game.
Tapping that icon will prompt the user to add a description to their broadcast. After adding the description, users can start live streaming by selecting ‘Start Live Video’ button. Once, the user stops live streaming, the video will be posted on their profile.

The second new feature is video chatting which will be made available early next year. The first game to utilize it will be Words with Friend. Facebook says that over 245 million people video chat every month on Messenger. Hence, they are bringing Instant Games to video chat to kill time with friends.
Last but not least, Facebook is bringing a bunch of new games to the Messenger. These games will be available in coming weeks. The new games list includes Angry Birds, Sonic Jump and Disney Tsum Tsum to name a few.
