Xiaomi to launch a new selfie-focused phone in India

Mi teaserIn a bid to further capitalise on its increasing popularity in the Indian market, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced that it plans to unveil a new smartphone-series for the country. The company is hosting a press event on November 2, when it will be showcasing the first phone in the lineup.
Since the company claims that it is a new smartphone-series, there is little to speculate on what Xiaomi might be launching. However the press invite as well as teasers about the launch, all carry the hashtag ‘Your Best Selfie,’ suggesting that the new phone is going to be selfie-focussed. With the craze for selfie-centric phones in the country right now, it is not surprising that Xiaomi too wants to grab a pie of the lucrative market.
Industry insiders suggest that the upcoming Xiaomi phone will be a part of Redmi devices, making it an affordable smartphone, priced probably under INR 10K. The phone will most likely come with a 16MP wide-angle front camera with LED flash. Other specifications are a mystery at this point.
To remind you, Xiaomi currently offers six smartphone models in India with different storage and RAM variations. The upcoming smartphone will be the seventh model. Despite keeping a comparably small portfolio of smartphones, Xiaomi has seen great success in the country. It is currently the second biggest smartphone maker, just behind Samsung. Xiaomi recently revealed that it managed to sell record 4 million smartphones in the 30-days preceding Diwali.
Although Xiaomi started out as an online-only brand in the country, it realised that online-only strategy is not going to serve it for long in a market where the most smartphone sales still come from offline retailers. This realisation has led to the company’s increased focus on the offline sales, including building its own presence with Mi Home stores. The offline sales now account for over 20 percent of the company’s total shipments in the country.

Xiaomi Mi A1 price-cutJust days after the Mi A1 was selling with a discount of INR 2000 as a part of the Flipkart Big Shopping Days sale, Xiaomi has announced that it is permanently revising the price of the phone to INR 13,999, down INR 1,000 from the phone’s launch price-tag.
“Great news Mi Fans: announcing a permanent price drop of Rs. 1000 on Mi A1! #MiA1: picture perfect flagship dual camera phone. Now available for a perfect price of Rs. 13,999!,” wrote Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director, Xiaomi India, in a tweet.
This price-cut comes over three months after the Mi A1 was introduced in the Indian market. It is the first Android One phone from the company and has been touted as one of the best phones in its price-bracket.

The phone is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and runs on Android 7.1 Nougat. The company recently started looking for testers for the Mi A1 Oreo update. Mi A1 is offered in three colour options – Black, Gold and Rose Gold and can be purchased from Flipkart.com and Mi India website.

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is here with a flashing score of 90 at DXOMark. It is surprising to see a high score for Mi Note 3 camera. Xiaomi launched the Mi Note 3 in September with Snapdragon 660 and 6GB of RAM. Now, it is slated for launch in some other countries. Just before that we have received DXOMark score for its camera abilities.

Talking about its camera, it has a 12 megapixel f/1.8 sensor paired with a 12 megapixel f/2.6 telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. As per the DXOMark, it has scored 90 points out of 100 and in Video section it managed to get 82 points out of 100. Xiaomi Mi Note 3 camera has scored pretty well in sections like exposure and contrast, light, color and autofocus. It has gained a lot of applause from the guys over at DXOMark in photo section.
While in the Video section , Mi Note 3 has scored significantly well than other most of the devices. It has scored 83 points due to high score in fields of exposure and autofocus, light, contrast, etc.
Xiaomi Mi Note 3 has failed to impress DxOMark with its Bokeh effect and Noise in photos.
Well, we think it is a good sign that Xiaomi has also started to focus on the Camera quality. In future, we hope the camera of upcoming smartphones from Xiaomi to improve.
