Intex ELYT e6 with 3GB RAM launched in India at INR 6,999


Intex Elyt E6Indian smartphone vendor Intex has added a new budget Android phone – ELYT e6 – to its smartphone portfolio in the country. The phone has been priced at INR 6,999 and will be available exclusively at e-retailer Flipkart.com. It will go on sale beginning December 15.
“Our special ELYT series launched this year has been well received in the market and going with the consumers’ response we have launched ELYT e6 model, designed for the online platform (exclusively on Flipkart) for tech savvy youth. Having multiple features with a focus on multitasking and storage capacity, this tech marvel will surely prove to be a customer’s delight, said Nidhi Markanday, Director, Intex Technologies, in a statement.
Intex ELYT e6 sports a 5-inch HD IPS screen and is powered by quad-core MediaTek MT6737V processor. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and packs a 4000 mAh battery. Other specifications include 4G VoLTE support, dual-SIM card slots and the usual set of connectivity options.
In terms of the memory, there is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage on-board the ELYT e6 as well as a microSD card slot with support upto 128GB.
At the given pricing, the Intex ELYT e6 will compete with Redmi 4 in the country, which offers similar specifications. The launch of Redmi 5, which was unveiled in China recently, in the coming months will further make it hard for the ELYT e6 to find buyers.

Google Maps Go app now available in Play Store


Google Maps GoWhen I wrote about the Android Oreo (Go Edition) launch, I told you guys about Google’s plans to release Go editions of its popular Android applications, which will be developed keeping in mind the entry-level smartphones. The company released the Files Go, YouTube Go and Google Go before the Oreo (Go Edition) announcement and now the Maps Go app has appeared in the Play Store.
“Google Maps Go, the lighter version of the original Google Maps app, is designed to run smoothly on devices with limited memory and on unreliable networks without compromising speed,” write Google in the Play Store description of the app.
While these Go-branded applications are primarily meant for the Android Go smartphones, the likes of Files Go and YouTube Go have been available to the most Android users, but the Maps Go doesn’t seem to be compatible with any devices at this point. One of possible reasons for that could be that it is just a progressive web app (PWA) at this moment, which could be easily accessed using this URL found by the folks at Android Police. If you want to try this Maps Go PWA, open the link in a new Chrome window.
The feature-set of the Maps Go is pretty decent. It can show maps, give you directions, search for places, show different layers, share your location, show real-time traffic and more. As per the Google Play listing, it is available in over 70 languages and houses maps for over 200 countries and territories.
After the Maps Go, only Assistant Go and Gmail Go apps are left to be released from Go edition portfolio. It is likely that we will see a PWA for Gmail Go as well, but Assistant Go is more likely to be a native app.

Panasonic releases Eluga I9 phone in India at INR 7,499



Panasonic Eluga I9Just over a month after launching the Eluga I5, Panasonic has added a new smartphone to its Eluga portfolio in the Indian market. The company on Wednesdayintroduced the new Eluga I9 phone. It has been priced at INR 7,499 and will be available exclusively via Flipkart.com. The sales begin December 15.
According to a press release shared by Panasonic, Eluga I9 sports a 5-inch 720p HD screen. It is powered by 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor and packs 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 2500 mAh battery as well in the phone.
On the imaging front, Panasonic has packed a 13MP primary camera on the back with a LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front with a soft-LED flash. In terms of the operating system, the Eluga I9 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and is unlikely to ever get the Android Oreo update.
For connectivity, the phone comes with 4G LTE support, WiFi, and Bluetooth. You can check out the detailed specifications at the end of the report.
At this pricing, the Eluga I9 will go head to head to the just launched Intex ELYT e6 and Xiaomi’s very popular Redmi 4 smartphones. Both of which are more affordable and offer comparable or slightly better specifications.

Zen Mobiles releases Admire Unity for first-time smartphone buyers


Zen Mobiles Admire UnityIn a bid to target the budget conscious first time smartphone consumers, Zen Mobiles has released the new Admire Unity Android phone in the Indian market. It carries a price-tag of INR 5,099 and will go on sale beginning November 10.

The phone also includes 4G VoLTE for the modern connectivity needs and comes pre-loaded with a number of applications, so you don’t have to rush to Play Store immediately after getting your new smartphone. The Zen Admire Unity is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. It sports a 5-inch display with 854x480p FWVGA resolution and packs a 2300 mAh battery. Additionally, the phone comes with 5MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP selfie camera and dua-SIM support. There is 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot as well on the Zen Admire Unity.

According to Zen Mobiles, the Admire Unity has been made in India and comes with replacement offers, who makes sure that if your faulty Admire Unity is not repaired by the company in 15 days, you will get a replacement phone.
