Google Phone app gets dedicated video call button from Duo

Google Phone App, used on most of the Android devices as a native call dialer app. The app has arrived a new update which enables to do a video call from the Google Duo App. The new button of Video call is now available in the latest Google phone app version. The option is visible when you place a call in ongoing call. In detail, the video call option shows while you make a normal call, and tapping on it launches the Duo app, switching you to a video call. Overall, we can say that Google Phone App disconnects your ongoing call and proceed with video call via the Google Duo app. Even both the apps show different call logs when dialling. The normal phone call will also show the log along with video call log and the Google Duo will also show the video call log. Well, we think it is a good thing that Google is differentiating both the calls. But we think a uniform button should be there before placing a call to switch to video call. It seems a long process but it is now possible with just q single tap. In future, we hope more improvement to come. The feature is currently rolling out, and it may take sometime to reach everyone. Google Allo v24 APK teardown reveals chat with Google accounts and more

Posted: 02 Dec 2017 08:58 AM PST

Google Allo was released a year ago and since then Google is being introducing new features to their messaging app. And now, a new APK teardown of v24 by Android Police confirms more new features that will be coming soon to the app.

The most notable features found were chat with Google accounts, new camera effects and some UI enhancements.

Chat with Google accounts

This feature will help you to chat with anyone who is connected with you by their google account. So, now you don’t need their phone numbers to chat on Google Allo. This will really come handy to many users out there who have been using Allo for months.

UI enhancements

Long pressing on any chats presently opens the action menu in rectangular shape. But, this might be changed in future update. Instead of action menu, there will be a pop up menu that will hover over the chat window.

The option buttons will be placed horizontally and they will be placed on a background which will have rounded corners.

Tabs

The future update may also feature a tab interface which will include People, Shared Media and Settings. This interface might be for the group chats which would display the members, media shared and settings in different tabs.

Camera effects

Some of the camera effects that will be included are Amazed Face Rays, Confused Face Kaleidoscope, Confused Question Marks, Drama Bollywood Zooms. To use those effects, users will have to download them first.

Flash

And last but not least, flash support is finally coming to Allo. It will be really helpful in low light conditions.

So, that’s it guys and in case if you are interested in using this new version of Google Allo, the download link is provided at the end of the post.

Google Duo V23 gives a new hint of Drishti mode

Google Duo V23 gives a new hint of Drishti mode

Posted: 30 Nov 2017 11:05 AM PST

Google has started rolling out the new update for Duo video calling app. Duo is one of the best video calling app as well as voice call can also be placed using the same service.

After the update, there haven’t been any visible changes in the app. Usually teardown does give us hints regarding the features that will be added in the new update. These tear downs are speculative in nature.

The Google Duo team has been working on adding a few new effects and adjustments. These effects as well as adjustments are for fetching a better quality picture from the camera. Though these have not been made public yet. The reason can be that using these features during video chat would be difficult as they work best in an automatic mode.

And what we feel once the final testing is done, new effects would be added for the public use and it’s called Drishti.

‘Drishti’ is Hindi translation of the word ‘Vision’. According to some research the Drishti Mode will help members taking part in the video chat stand out in the image.

Well, though we can’t come up with a conclusion what it will be. But we can wait until and unless this feature is available for public.

Later, the speed of the downloads pacified as its shine was lost amid of the competition. But still it has managed to get some awesome ratings over at the Play Store.

Google Duo is the best rated communication app on the Play Store

Google Duo app has just achieved 4.6 rating on the Play Store. It is the first app in the communications category, if we talk about the big players, to hit the 4.6 rating out of 5. Well, there’s another achievement for this app, it is the highest rated google app ever.

Talking about the Google Duo as a product, Google Duo has achieved a lot of genuine users. There are many pros, to be true, it features the clearest videos among its competition. You can find the clarity every time you make a call on the Google Duo.

It is a good thing to see, that app which has been launched last year has achieved 100 Million installs and has received 4.6 ratings overall. It’s not like playing in the ground, the 4.6 ratings matter a lot for the developers.

We hope Google Duo to get more and more momentum in the upcoming time.

Google Duo hits 4.6 stars on the Play Store! If my math is right, that makes it the highest-rated popular communications app, and the highest-rated Google app as well.
