Huawei Enjoy 7s leaked in full, could be announced on Dec 18

Chinese smartphone giant Huawei is gearing up to introduce a new mid-range Android smartphone called Enjoy 7s. Since most of the Enjoy-series phones are often released with different names outside China, you might not have heard about the Enjoy-lineup. Some of the past Enjoy-series phones are – Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus aka Huawei Y7 Prime and Huawei Enjoy 6s aka Huawei Nova Smart.
The Enjoy 7s, which carries the model number FIG-AL00, was first spotted in the database of Chinese telecom certification agency TENAA last month. Now, thanks to a number of leaks, we not only have a press render of the phone, but a couple of live images as well as the full specifications. The date present on the home-screen of the leaked render also suggests that the phone could be made official on December 18 in China.
As per the leaks, Huawei Enjoy 7s will sport a 5.65-inch FullView screen with 2160x1080p resolution. The phone will be powered by the company’s own Kirin 659 octa-core processor. In terms of the software, the Enjoy 7s will run on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0.
Additionally, the phone will pack a 3000 mAh battery, a microSD card slot dual rear cameras with 13MP and 2MP sensors and an 8MP selfie camera.

Huawei is expected to introduce two storage variant of the Enjoy 7s – one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It will be offered in three colour choices – Gold, Blue and Black.
I am hoping to get details about the pricing on December 18. The company is unlikely to share the international release plans at the China event, but we might see the Enjoy 7s appear with some other name in rest of the Asia and Europe over the next few months.

Huawei Honor 8 and 8 Pro will get Android 8.0 Oreo, confirmed by its CEO


Huawei Honor 8 pro which was launched in India earlier this year will get Android oreo Update. Along with Honor 8 last year device from the company will also get the Oreo Update. As the update for both these devices are confirmed by the CEO of Honor, George Zao in an interview.


Huawei has launched already launched few devices which are running on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Company has even rolled out oreo update to some its devices. So now we hope that Honor 8 and Honor 8 Pro will get the Oreo update very soon. The Oreo update is packed with Picture in Picture mode, auto fill, notification channels, new revamped settings app, new notification centre and several others.
However, the exact date is not given on which the update will release. But CEO of Honor says the software is in testing mode for both these phones and they will get the oreo update very soon. Moreover, recently launched Honor 7X will also get Oreo very soon.

Android 8.0 Oreo was officially launched in August of 2017. Though it comes with many new features, the most notable one is ‘Project Treble’. Let us deep dive in this article to know about Project Treble, supported devices and its future.

Project Treble, a major re-architect of the Android OS framework designed to make it easier, faster, and less costly for manufacturers to update devices to a new version of Android. Treble is for all new devices launching with Android 8.0 and beyond.
In a nutshell, Project Treble allows ROM developers to update their software to newer Android version easily.

Before Project Treble, i.e. in Android Nougat and earlier versions, the software had a single unified layer consisting of both Android Framework and Vendor implementation. The first one contains all Android Operating System related things and the latter one contains implementations made by hardware vendors, i.e SoC manufacturers to support the Android system. Thus, whenever new Android version arrives, the developers had to update the Android framework as well as rework the vendor implementation to support that software. It was really a tedious work and thus updates took more time to reach the end users.

Project Treble compatible smartphones will have two separate layers for both Android Framework and Vendor implementation. Thus, when a new Android version arrives, the developers just have to update their Android framework. Thus, Project Treble makes the update task easier and faster, so end user can enjoy the latest version of Android quicker than before.

Project Treble Supported Devices

As of now, Project Treble is supported by some handful of devices running Android Oreo or even Nougat in some cases. The list includes Google’s Pixel smartphones both first and second generations, Huawei’s Mate 9 series, Mate 10 series, Honor 9, Honor 8 Pro and Sony’s Xperia XZ1 as well as XZ1 Compact. Sadly, though OnePlus, Nokia updated their flagships to Android Oreo, they don’t support Project Treble. However, it will be supported by almost all smartphone launching with Android Oreo out of the box from next year.

Future of Project Treble

Project Treble has a wonderful future ahead especially in Custom ROM community. Developers can have a one unified build for multiple devices which support Project Treble. A developer has already booted a same Android 8.0 AOSP build on multiple devices from different OEMs as well as different SoC. The smartphones he tested were Huawei Mate 9, Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9, Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact and Essential Phone.
Now, that’s really a breakthrough. Which clearly means in the future, most of the Custom ROMs will have the same build for multiple smartphones.

Conclusion

Though Project Treble makes the task of updating the smartphones easier, it is still in the hands of OEMs to deliver the updates faster. But, the Custom ROM community will bloom more with the help of Project Treble for sure.
