Xiaomi had a wonderful time this year, especially in India. They became the 1st smartphone manufacturer to match the market share of Samsung in India. Even they became more popular than before internationally, thanks to their Mi Mix 2 and Mi A1.
The year did not end for Xiaomi yet, as they are gearing up to launch 2 new smartphones in their home country China. Those new devices are none other than Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus which were leaked a while ago.
The official Xiaomi account on Weibo posted the above image with some information regarding the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus launch. According to the post, the new devices will be unveiled on December 7 by the popular Chinese pop band SNH48. The highlight if these two smartphones will be their 18:9 displays. And above all, they will be priced below CNY1,000 as the post says “A phone for a thousand”.

As for the processor is concerned, both the devices will powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon according to leaks. Also, there will be two variants of the each phone, one with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM and another with 4GB RAM/64GB ROM. For optics, both will have the same 12MP primary camera and 5MP secondary camera.
The difference between the two will be the screen size, display resolution and battery. The regular Redmi 5 will sport a 5.7 inch HD+ display, whereas the Plus variant will come with a 5.99 inch FHD+ display. The plus variant will be backed by a 4,000 mAh battery but the regular one will come with a smaller 3,300 mAh battery.
However, we will come to know everything about the devices on December 7 when they go official.
