On its quest to enhance the overall experience of the users. Whatsapp has been totting interesting features to its popular instant messenger one by one. Similarly, it seems the Facebook owned company is now experimenting a new feature that grants extra power for group administrators. Such that, the Group Admins could completely halt the members from posting things like images, documents, songs and even text messages.

As per WABetainfo, the new feature known as “Restricted Groups” setting is incorporated in the latest Whatsapp Beta version 2.17.430. If you’re an admin of a Whatsapp Group, then only you’ll be access to this settings. Once it’s enabled the other group members posts will not appear, while the admins can still post content without being affected. Literally, a supreme control over the group members.
However, if a member needs to urgently post a content on a restricted group. There is also a provision in which the member can seek the permission of Admin to post via an option called “Message Admin”. The message will be passed onto group if and only if the admin approves it.
Moreover, the source also states that, “A group can be restricted once every 72 hours but thanks to the 2.17.430 beta, we discovered that WhatsApp will be finally able to change this value from the server”. So, currently the validity of restriction is 72 hrs, which may or may not change when the feature becomes really official.
