OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition announced, will go on sale from December 15
nePlus has announced a new version of its OnePlus 5T phone. No, the hardware is still the same. OnePlus 5T was announced just last month and went on sale only towards the end of November, so the new variant is not different in terms of its hardware or design. The only difference is in the style with the new OnePlus 5T getting a Star Wars theme, coinciding with the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition will go on sale starting December 15 on Amazon India, oneplusstore.in, and OnePlus experience stores in Bangalore and Noida.
In other words, the OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition is a phone that is for Star Wars nerds. For now, no other details such as availability and price of this new OnePlus have been announced. "Star Wars has enthralled generations with their masterful storytelling from a galaxy far, far away, with the best in technology and strong engagement with their fan community. Similarly, OnePlus too has a dedicated community that is deeply passionate about the best in technology, design and attention to detail. With this befitting association, OnePlus community will be able to thoroughly enjoy the legacy of both the brands," the company said in a statement. Fans can be part of the launch event in Mumbai on December 14 by booking the tickets for Rs 999 via Paytm starting December 7 at 10am.
In the photo of the new phone that OnePlus shared, we see there is not much difference between the regular OnePlus 5T and this new special edition. It carries the logo of Star Wars on its back cover and is styled in black and white, that pays homage to the style of Stormtroopers. This gives the phone a nice-dual tone design, not entirely different from the Panda-style Pixel 2 XL that Google unveiled in early November. Just like the Pixel 2 the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition too seem to have a button in a different colour, addition to the overall theme of the phone.
To recall, the OnePlus 5T is a premium phone launched by OnePlus on November 16. It succeeds the OnePlus 5 in the company's line and it comes with high-end hardware. The p[hone has a 6-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, comes with 64GB pr 128GB internal storage, paired with 6GB or 8GB RAM. It has one 16-megapixel selfie camera at the front and two (one 16-megapixel and one 20-megapixel) shooters on the back. The phone uses an all aluminium body and comes with features like Face Unlocking, fingerprint sensor and Dash Charging.
In India Today Tech review we found that the OnePlus 5T was more or less similar to the OnePlus 5, but its 6-inch screen was truly fabulous and made the phone one of the best available in the market right now, especially at its starting price of Rs 32,999. Here is what we said in our OnePlus 5T review:
It's not that the OnePlus 5 was a shabby phone by any account. But the OnePlus 5T is better. It has got slightly better camera and a much better screen. The big screen, with no fingerprint sensor under it, also makes the phone look more attractive and dynamic compared to the OnePlus 5, or for that matter the Nokia 8 or the Moto Z2 Play. Also its rounded edges make it look more attractive as well as make it look more handy than the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
