Xiaomi Redmi 5 render show off 18:9 display, full specs leaked
Xiaomi gained wide popularity with its Redmi 4 series of budget phones. The company is reportedly working on the successors of this year's Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and also the Xiaomi's self-claimed "best-selling" phone, aka Redmi Note 4. These phones are -- Redmi 5, Redmi 5A and the Redmi Note 5. All the three phones have been subjected to several leaks and rumours, and images of them have also surfaced online. The one thing that should be common among all the three phone is the 18:9 screen. The same has been suggested by a newly leaked render of the Redmi 5. The render shows both front and back side of the phone, and along with that another leak reveals the key specs of the phone.
The render of the Redmi 5 has been leaked by a Chinese telecom regulator. And like the previously leaked images reveal, the new one also show off an 18:9 touchscreen for the Redmi 5. The render of the alleged Redmi 5 show off the device in gold color, a single camera setup at the back, and below the rear camera sits the fingerprint print.
Going by the render, from the back, the upcoming Redmi 5 looks pretty much similar to its predecessor -- Redmi 4. Alongside the image, some key specifications of the smartphone have also been leaked now.
The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a 5.7-inch display with HD+ resolution. This means that the phone may come with a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. Apart from the improved display, Redmi 5 may see a major improvement on both hardware and software front as well.
Redmi 4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, however, that may not be the case with the Redmi 5. The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a much better processor -- Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset is expected. Redmi 5 is also tipped to come in only one variant -- with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There are no words on if the storage can be expanded with a microSD card or not. On the software front, the Redmi 5, for now, is tipped to come with Android 7.1 Nougat. But chances are also likely for the phone to run on the latest software -- Oreo.
Redmi 5 may come with an improved hardware, software, and design. But, surprisingly, the camera department may not see much difference compared to the Redmi 4. The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a 12-megapixel sensor at the back, while on the front the phone will come with a 5-megapixel camera setup. The battery setup may also drop a bit than the Redmi 4. The Redmi 5 is expected to be backed by a 3,300 mAh battery.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 -- much like the Redmi 4 is expected to be a budget phone. Assumptions are such that the phone may cost around CNY 1,399 - which translates roughly around Rs 13,000.
