Here’s one another announcement coming from Google IO 2016. Google has announced Daydream, which is Google’s VR platform for Android.daydream
The Daydream kit is meant to bridge the gap between Cardboard and the more expensive stuff like HTC Vive and Oculus. The controller, for instance, allows for calls to action and navigation but it won’t give the full-on “squeeze and pick things up” that comes with the high-end stuff.
Android N will be able to tell if phones are Daydream ready based on the sensors, display, and processor within. Android N brings improvements to performance VR thanks to low latency (20ms) and the simplified system user interface.
Google will launch reference devices for both controllers and VR headsets. The devices will arrive this fall, and have been seeded to partners already to help them create their own Daydream-ready VR devices.
